Calder's Kindergarten Music program
Wednesday was Calder's music program. It was fun to watch how excited Calder was to perform for us, but the program itself was......long. I have never heard "the itsy bitsy spider" with so many verses.... They also sang "Manners, Manners everywhere (which I have included a video clip of, a minute long, the best part is the last bit) which was really entertaining because none of them were together, but they all sang animatedly. I think that it was their favorite song.

Friday, we had Scott and Michelle over for dinner and games, which was so much fun. After dinner/before games we were just sitting around chatting. I had KK on my lap and he decided to get on to the table. We all four were sitting around it and so he was just going from one to the next. Then he spotted his "high calorie" beans he had been eating earlier and so we moved them into the center of the table for him to eat. We expected him to just pick them up and eat them......instead he folded himself in half and ate them with his mouth!! It was soooooo funny!

Next, he discovered the pitcher of water, well it used to be water, now it just had ice at the bottom. Which Kaelan thought was wonderful. His short little arms could barely reach in to get the ice.! We were all laughing to hard at his antics, trying to grab slippery ice at the bottom of a pitcher and then having it slip around out of his mouth, everywhere. Fun to watch.

"Sverson"
This week, Levi got his baseball uniform for his team "The Beavers". The Coach had contracted a business to put the players last names on their jersey. When Levi got his and turned it over for inspection, he discovered, much to his dismay, that he was a "Sverson" now. A Severson, no longer. Shock....gasp..... horror!! Fortunately, we have been assured, monday will bring rectification of the problem, and once again Levi will be a Severson!!!
Luckily the change in names didn't seem to affect his performance!!

Hit and Run, Mailbox bashing...
Funny story. On Friday we had our very own neighborhood "drama". Somewhere between 3:45pm and 4pm, yes a 15 minute window, some crazy driver took out our mailbox (it serves 7 houses). NO one saw it. This is incredibly amazing considering the damage done and people driving in and out all over. Our Neighbors left to run an errand at 3:45pm and there was no damage yet, but at 4pm (when Joe got home) it was a mess, totally torn apart! Somehow this person came careening around the corned at quite a clip, took out the mailboxes, ripped their fender off, cracked the tree and shattered debris 30 feet into the neighbors yard, and then...... took off!! It was pretty amazing.
There is a stop sign just 60 yards down the street, and it dead ends right there, but people can turn left onto our street there. Yet, that didn't stop this fellow from attempting to break the sound barrier with his acceleration. WE all speculate that is must have been a teenager, because what adult (in their right mind) wouldn't stop and then report it?! Hitting a mailbox isn't like hitting another car or person, and much less of an offense than a hit and run!!! And, they left half of their car behind! The police took the whole front right fender with them in their car. It looks to be a new car to, every piece was new and shiny. Their was even the wiring, lamps, and plastic shields for the head lights strewn throughout our neighbors yard. Quite impressive.
Now the question begs to be asked..... How are we going to get the mail now? Nothing has changed yet, and I am imaging that they are just going to make us come to the postoffice, for an unspecified period, of time to get our mail.

The tree (the crack is hard to see, but the lady who lives behind our neighbor's house said she heard a huge crash and looked out her window and saw the tree swaying/shaking back and forth) and the mailboxes that suffered the damage. Can you see the car's black fender lining, next to the mailbox?
Our "box" is #2, the second one down, on the lefthand side ( in the mailbox underneath the pinkish one) This is after we cleaned up all the small pieces. The boys loved this part, well to be honest, they loved it all!

A Saturday afternoon walk
It was 81 degrees on saturday, so we had to take advantage. Besides two baseball games and a primary activity, taking a walk seemed like a great idea!

That is quite the week!! That is sad about your mailbox (though quite an impressive story). I think Calder's program sounds so funny - watching the video clip made me think the music teacher had to have been so exhausted by the end! And it was fun to be able to spot Calder's curly hair in the video :)

I am not going to comment on your 80-degree weather. I went grocery shopping on Saturday and it was raining sideways with crazy winds. Ahh spring in Chicago.
Amazing that someone could do that much damage. Imagine how fast they must have been going! Isn't that almost a 90 degree turn? Good thing no kids were outside playing.
I love the magnolia tree, it is gorgeous! Tell Calder he did a great job singing.
Yeah, it really is a good thing the boys weren't out playing, they are FREQUENTLY playing right there, with their scooters and bikes, chalk or anything with Nathaniel, who likes right there in front of the mailbox. That would have been AWFUL, it was the right time too, that is when they are typically out playing.
Yes, it is a 90 degree turn, I can't believe it. Why weren't they slowing down? 20MPH feels to fast around that corner, and the police man speculated that they were going at least 35mph.
Thanks, about the tree, is goes by so fast, just a couple of weeks and it is done flowering.

The 80 degree weather was gone too soon and they are predicting snow this weekend. What a crazy spring!
