It was Calder's first year for basketball, and if I was impressed with Ansel's quick catch on, I was doubly impressed with Calder's! The kids he was playing against had all been playing basketball for 5 years and he was a newbie!
He is a natural in Basketball. No doubt about it. He GOT it. He understood the game, he had the speed and agility and great accuracy in shots. He quickly shot from new guy to team leader in a matter of weeks. It was kind of amazing to watch the transformation. The team just started looking to him for direction and he quickly ended up being the go to guy. Maybe it has something to do with being left handed... Not sure.
Taking a break.
He was the most fouled on kid in the team. It just goes to show you that the other teams took notice and would press him more than anyone else, and ending up fouling him in the process.
He was fouled on this shot too:
The photo was taken just after he was fouled...
Taking foul shots once again:
Calder now says that Basketball is his favorite sport.
I don't blame him. It's hard not to like a sport you excel in!
Good Job Calder, for being willing to take a risk and try something new, even when you know everyone else around you is more advanced! That takes guts kid!!
You just PROVED the risk is worth it!
