She loves Joe. She calls him "Jo Jo daddy". It is the cutest thing ever. She prefers him to everyone else, sometimes even including her mom and dad!
While we were there we went swimming, played, and at the end, last minute decided to go rock climbing. BJ and Lani are veteran climbers and gave all the boys that could wear a harness, lessons in climbing. It was fantastic.

Kaelan did his own rock climbing and death defying rock jumping that kept his mom on her toes the entire time. Nothing like having adrenaline running through your veins for two solid hours! I was so raw-nerved, by the end, trying to save Kaelan from himself. He was so crazy! But, what was amazing was the fact that he would do these crazy jumps on to small points and make it every time. We were talking about his natural physical abilities the entire time.

He kept losing his shoes in crevices walking through the boulders which is probably why he resorted to jumping instead of climbing.

Sticker picking was the next most common thing Kaelan did. He seemed to be constantly getting them caught in his pants.

Ansel was really bummed that the harness was too big for him so we let him do a little free climbing in a safe area. That seemed to satisfy him, mostly. I think me taking pictures of him doing it was the biggest pacifier.

Calder, trying to cheer up Ansel:

The boys loved exploring the rock crevices when they weren't climbing and they found some cool places. Like this little hidden peekaboo hole:

Ashlyn loved watching the kids climb:

Where are his legs?!?

They are in reverse order so you see us at the top first, and then the climb up to it.

Halfway up:

Calder had a good time, but it was a hard climb and he got wiped out half way up and couldn't finish the climb. I thought that the fact that my little 9 year old made it halfway was pretty amazing. They were straight up cliffs with very little obvious hand holds. I was pretty bruised up afterwards because you really have to use your body in different ways, stuffing your legs in places, cramming your elbows into cracks and really using your body while plastered flat against the wall. The adrenaline really gets revved up when you have to move into a vulnerable position because your body knows that pain is involved in a fall, and ignores the the rope attached to your harness.

Yay for rock climbing! We will definitely do that again!
