A Fond Farewell

Remi came up this past weekend to visit one last time before she heads off to Afghanistan for a year. :-( We will miss her like crazy. It has been so much fun to have her close.

It was a quick visit because they are working her like crazy and she has no time. But, we got her for an evening at least. Fortunately we had something fun to do while she was here. We went to West Linn's Annual Street Dance. It is always held down in the Historic Willamette Area, which is so pretty. They shut down the street and have juggling, face painting, magic tricks, live bands and lots of food. It is such a fun community based activity. West Linn is small enough that there is always a good chance that you will know a good portion of the people attending. Which was true this time as well. It was fun to run into a bunch of friends through out.

For us, the first stop was Sandoval's (a mexican cuisine restaurant) because Remi didn't get in until 6:30pm and we had been out the entire day. We were all starving! It didn't help that it took forever for the food to come out. Fortunately they had really yummy chips on salsa to fill up on while you wait (so you can then take home the food you ordered since you are already full) But the food was worth the wait. Extremely delish. We enjoyed seeing how much we really could fit in our stomachs.

Here we are, waiting......and waiting....

The street dance was fun. They had some really good bands, and it was really crowded. We mostly stood around and talked with friends.

But, then after we decided to go home and were walking to our car, Kaelan all of a sudden became very upset that we hadn't danced at the street dance. Rather than head back into the crowd I convinced him to dance right there. He had been on Joe's shoulders the entire time, and so obviously couldn't dance before. He really got into it, I even spied a few break dancing moves! It was hilarious! We could still hear the music blaring so he kept rhythm pretty well to Lady Gaga's Poker Face. I had a video but it really didn't turn out well because of the lighting. Neither did these pictures from my iphone, but at least you can see him "freezing"

Fun night! After that we went home, put the kids to bed, left Levi in charge and went out to see a 10pm show in Remi's awesome new black cherry 2011 Mustang (it is a rental from on base-I guess they know what kind of cars soldiers like to rent). It was fun to pretend that we were young and cool......

We will miss you Remi! You will be in our prayers every night!

I need to keep on my daughters blogs, I have missed too many fun things. So great to see the pictures of what is happening with everyone I feel like I'm almost there.
